Second Meeting of the National Prevention Coalition on HIV and AIDS Held

Partners and Stakeholders continue to work towards robust HIV preventive measures to compliment effective and efficient policies and programmes to achieve epidemic control and global target of ending AIDS by 2030.

Speaking on behalf of Dr Kyeremeh Atuahene, Director General of Ghana AIDS Commission at a stakeholder consultative meeting to validate guidelines on Standard Operating Procedures for Young Key Population (SOPYKP) and second National Prevention Coalition meeting in Accra, Mr. Daniel Nsiah, Director for Finance and Administration asked implementing partners to be proactive  and practically acquaint themselves with the YKPSOP content and apply same on the field to achieve the overarching objective of the national HIV and AIDS response of averting new HIV infections among the young population.

He said all service providers should be well equipped with the needed skills and support to ensure a harmonized service delivery at all YKP centers. He said that the aim of working in partnership is to achieve a harmonized response towards prevention of HIV and ending AIDS among all populations. “When we all respond to one document, it leads to a harmonized national response. And that is exactly what we require to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves”.

In consensus all stakeholders and participants accented to the content of the YKPSOP to be used by implementing partners, health service providers and clinicians at all HIV service delivery centers across the country.

Stakeholders and Partners at the YKPSOP validation and National Prevention Coalition meeting included the Ghana AIDS Commission, GHS-NACP, NAP+ Ghana, PPAG, UNAIDS, USAID, UNESCO, PROLINK, WAPCAS, HFFG, WAAF, CEPHEG, CHAG and the Ghana Police Service.
